Description of Counselor/Practice
I specialize in working with adult individuals and couples on issues such as:
-Exploring cultural adjustment and acculturation for People of Color and International communities;
-Healing through emotional, sexual, and physical trauma;
-Working through conflict, transition, and disconnection from family and other primary relationships;
-Mending wounds and building secure foundations in intimate relationships through couples therapy and multi-person romantic relationships;
-Navigating life transitions, loss and grief in relationships; and
-Recovery from depression and anxiety.
My hope for all of my clients is to collaboratively support a deeper understanding of your core self to develop a more empowered way of seeing yourself and experiencing relationships. I especially enjoy working with those who are striving to improve their quality of life and relationships in the context of their multiple identities, such as gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religious/spiritual faith, disability status, immigration history, and other aspects of ourselves that impact our values and choices. It is important to me that you are able to speak your truth in therapy, and therefore, my goal is to wholeheartedly witness your stories of struggle, pain, loss and shame, as well as your stories of survival, resilience, courage, wisdom and love. Therapy is an opportunity for you develop a greater sense of clarity about your experiences and emotions in the context of a mutually empowering and empathic therapeutic relationship.
