My name is Tyah Young (she/her) and I am a licensed mental health counselor associate. I am a queer identified, anti-racist, therapist of color who is committed to increasing access to mental health therapy particularly for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I am passionate about working alongside individuals in the therapeutic process and empowering them to take steps towards healing. I consider every individual to be the expert of their story, and I endeavor to partner with my clients to get an understanding of their needs within the context of their lived experience. I hope to help you feel seen, heard, and validated.
I have experience working in a variety of capacities including school counseling, outpatient therapy, and inpatient/residential therapy. I utilize a variety of evidence-based, trauma-informed therapeutic modalities in my work, including mindfulness, DBT, narrative therapy, CBT, ACT, and TF-CBT, depending on what meets the needs of the individual.
My clinical interests include the treatment of symptoms related to ADHD, depression, mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders, as well as providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care. Regardless of where you're starting, I hope to help you reclaim a sense of stability in your life and empower you to move towards your most authentic self.
