Description of Counselor/Practice

Hello! ¡Hola! I’m Celina, your Marriage & Family Therapist. I’m here to help you find your own voice, express your true identity, and create lasting wellbeing. Estoy aquí para ayudarlo a encontrar su propia voz, expresar su verdadera identidad y crear un bienestar duradero. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have a B.A. degree in Psychology and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have over nine years of experience working with couples, families and individuals. In addition to working as a therapist, I have also held roles as a supervisor, consultant, presenter, and adjunct-professor. I am a bilingual therapist with experience providing mental health treatment in both English and Spanish, and I am an Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist (EMMHS) with an emphasis on the Latino/Hispanic culture. Soy bilingüe y tengo experiencia en proveer tratamiento de salud mental en Ingles y en Español. My Story Growing up, I was surrounded by multiple cultures: I come from a Mexican family but also grew up in the United States the majority of my life. This brought a unique experience as I searched for my own identity and values within two different cultures. I wanted to find a way to honor and respect my family and culture, while also integrating the societal norms of my community. My family was very adamant about me being bilingual and made sure I did not lose connection to important cultural traditions and values. This was complicated as a teenager to understand, but it is something I am very grateful for now that I’m building a family of my own. This experience has been influential in my ability to help my clients find that same balance—staying connected to their roots while co-creating a family with their significant others, and simultaneously discovering their true identity and integrating it into the lives they are building. My Mission It has been my mission since I began in this career to create a safe space for people of all backgrounds to get the support they need and create true change. I want my clients to experience therapy as a valuable resource to help them shape their lives and relationships into what they want them to be while also staying true to what they value. My goal is to support my clients in building healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives and relationships. I help them gain tools to feel in control of their lives, emotions, and reactions. Through thorough assessment, mindful curiosity, and cultural humility I help my clients feel supported, understood, and validated. I offer them tools to be their authentic selves in and out of the therapy room, while breaking unhelpful and/or unhealthy patterns.
