Description of Counselor/Practice
I specialize in helping teens and families with depression, anxiety, identity questions and life transitions. I grew up in Lima, Peru, and offer counseling in both English and Spanish.
I view counseling as a collaborative process in which the client and therapist work as a mutually invested team to define present problems, develop goals, and work toward realizing those them. I approach counseling from a perspective that includes aspects of Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral, and Motivational techniques. In counseling clients, I endeavor to help individuals find their own beliefs, identify their emotions, and express themselves in healthy and meaningful ways.
In working with families, my goals are to identify patterns of behavior, recognize familial strengths, and to potentially suggest modifications that encourage interactions within the family to be healthy and adaptive. I am LGBTQ affirming and welcome clients from all backgrounds.
