Description of Counselor/Practice

Hey there, my name is Renee (pronouns: she/they). Thank you for considering me as a potential support on your journey! A few of the identities I hold are queer, non-binary, neurodivergent and femme. I also identify as mixed race, with Japanese and white ancestry. My understanding of myself and the world comes in part, from these lived experiences. Navigating situations where I am privileged, marginalized and/or somewhere in between has also forced me to grapple with ambiguity and complicated power dynamics. Acknowledging the complexity and limitations of fixed identities, I’m thankful that they have become a source of belonging and strength for me. My style in session is warm, strengths-based and collaborative. I approach this work from a somatic psychodynamic perspective that is grounded in values of compassion and anti-oppression. The clients I work with are often exploring identity (racial, gender, sexual, cultural etc.), seeking ways to strengthen their relationships, healing trauma, tending to anxiety and depression, exploring neurodivergence and/or cultivating a stronger sense of self-worth. Depending on your therapeutic goals we may use one or integrate multiple modalities and approaches during our work together. These may include but are not limited to: psychodynamic exploration, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skill-building, Somatic Experiencing (SE), parts-work (informed by Internal Family Systems) and mindfulness. Whatever brings you here, welcome. I consider it an honor to walk alongside clients as they find ways to access more of their power and move closer to what they want. Thank you for considering me as someone you might want to work with. Please take a look at what I have to offer and contact me if you’d like to learn more.
