Description of Counselor/Practice
A few identities I hold include: queer, non-binary and femme. I also identify as mixed race, with white (primarily from the British Isles) and Japanese ancestry. My understanding of myself and the world comes in part, from these lived experiences. Navigating situations where I am privileged, marginalized and/or somewhere in between has also forced me to grapple with ambiguity and complex power dynamics.
I approach this work from a somatic psychodynamic perspective that is grounded in compassion and anti-oppressive values. My style in session is warm, strengths-based and collaborative. I welcome all clients and specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ folks, mixed race folks and people of color. My clients are often exploring identity, seeking ways to strengthen their relationships, healing trauma, tending to anxiety and depression, looking at their substance use, wanting to nurture their spirituality and/or gain a stronger sense of embodiment. Depending on your therapeutic goals we may use one or integrate multiple modalities and approaches during our work together. These may include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skill-building, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing® and mindfulness.
Whatever brings you here, welcome. I consider it an honor to walk alongside clients as they find ways to access more of their power and move closer to their goals. I thank you for considering me as someone you might want to work with. Please take a look at what I have to offer and contact me if you’d like to learn more!
