Description of Counselor/Practice
I started in this work because I always found it easy to talk to people. Therapy is an extension of the core belief that we as humans require connection and to be understood. As a therapist, you will find me to be engaged and interactive in session. I work with a variety of issues including depression, stress, work-life boundaries, numerous mental health diagnoses, but at the core, a positive connection is what I would hope that you'll gain within our time together.
I do this work because each person has a story to tell and positive changes to make. I would love to sit with you to find the pathway that is right for you. I enjoy being active in the counseling process and will work to provide you with the right balance of therapeutic work and safety. As a therapist, I first strive to find your strengths and values with a goal to reduce the stressors. My focus is to assist you in taking a look at these aspects of what makes you YOU and find a way to improve those pieces in a conscious way.
Mental health is not born at the beginning of consciousness, it begins in our history, our genetics, our upbringing. I specialize in a numerous of treatment approaches such as Psychodynamic therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused therapy and CBT that work to increase the health of our mind. Being a POC in today's world, I hope to provide a no BS approach to racial issues that can cause pain in our hearts and trauma in our thoughts. Ultimately, the goal is to go deeper into your life, be a little vulnerable and ultimately find that you are safe and accepted.
