Description of Counselor/Practice
Recognizing the importance of intersectionality in our lives, I provide safe space for people of color (POC) and LGBTQIA folks and their families. Deciding to seek support for life problems can be an important first step toward taking care of yourself. I appreciate the opportunity to work with you to improve relationships, problem solve, and help you toward your best self.
~Trauma~
I have provided support to children and adult who are recovering from child abuse or sexual abuse since 2008. Trauma can result in a variety of issues such as ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, borderline and relating issues, impulse control, OCD, emotion control or shifts. People may experience one or many of these issues together. My approach is holistic to help you utilize your strengths and build new skills for coping. Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCT), ACT, EMDR, DBT, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) are therapies in which I have training to help clients process their experiences.
~Children~
I apply over 17 years as a teacher and school counselor to work with children and families. Parents and caregivers are an integral part of supporting children (ages 3 - 18) as they cope with trauma - including abuse, anxiety, depression, anger, oppositional behavior, ADHD, or relating to others.
~Adults~
For adults feeling like you have lost your self, struggling with maintaining relationships, or sexual health issues, I provide a safe space for exploration and growth. With couples, I support your efforts to strengthen your connection, repair relationship, and develop more effective communication.
