Description of Counselor/Practice
Seeking therapy is a brave and vulnerable step! I specialize in counseling women who are strong, but feel powerless because of trauma, anxiety, depression, and fears. I believe every person has stories of victories and love, as well as disconnection and harm. I work collaboratively with you, offering a nonjudgmental space for you to process and find your voice in these stories.
I view the counseling process as building a therapeutic relationship with you, with the goal of finding deeper understanding, healthier relationships, coping skills, and healing in order to move forward. I pay attention to how the body caries trauma, seen through: insomnia, binge eating, ulcers, over-exercising, etc. Therefore, I use mindfulness and breathing practices to alleviate anxiety. I consider our work holistically: mind, body and spirit are all connected and all needing care.
Similarly, I view our work through the lens of your past, present, and future. I believe your family of origin and past plays an integral role in your present, so we will look at patterns of relationships and behaviors to empower where you will go from here.
If this sounds like what you are needing, I would love to hear from you!
