Sex: Female

Description of Counselor/Practice

My specialties focus on reducing the symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD that come from experiencing life’s traumas, transitions, and oppression. My work with clients examines the systems of oppression that are responsible for the negative thoughts and emotions that often motivate people to seek out therapy. These systems include social economic, family, race, and gender systems which often give rise to various forms of abuse. Using Narrative Therapy and Dialectial Behavioral Therapy I seek to help clients uncover and revise the beliefs that they had been forced to align with in order to safely navigate these oppressive systems. This social justice perspective not only helps clients heal from their trauma but also allows them to decrease the likelihood of re victimization/re-traumatization that is often a reality for many survivors.
